Compartments

This piece was created for the Lineage art show, hosted by the Blood Dumpster art collective.
It's the first in what I hope to be a series that explores the disconnection I feel from my inner self. Much of this is actually tied into the fact that I'm an artist, however, in the pursuit of illustration, I create things that have nothing to do with my own emotions or history.

I sketched out loosely in terra cotta col-erase pencil, built up some layers using only paynes grey, white and a rust red acrylic, then placed the tumbling images on through a matte medium transfer. Finished it off with more layers of the same three colors (although I think I overworked it in some places). The number three is associated a lot with this piece.
